Out and About The unique location of our house, halfway between Florence and the sea, is perfect for exploring Tuscany during your holiday. The motorway links allow you to get to Florence and Pisa in a 30 minutes highway drive, to Siena and San Gimignano in a little more than an hour as well as to the beach, to take advantage of a sunny day. As an alternative, reliable and frequent bus and train services connect us to Florence, Lucca, Siena and Pisa. It is also an ideal starting point for short trips to the vestiges of the mysterious Etruscan civilization and to other not so well-known but none the less very interesting art cities like Pistoia, Lucca, Certaldo. In Vinci, the native town of Leonardo da Vinci you can visit his family house and an excellent museum with working samples of his inventions (45 mins. by car). Wine connoisseurs will enjoy Montepulciano and the Chianti region. The elegant spa town of Montecatini Terme is well worth a visit. It is 5 minutes drive away and makes you feel like having a walk in its beautiful park and spas. Its Art-Nouveau architecture and flowered streets have often been used as film settings. The town offers a good variety of restaurants, excellent ice-cream shops and many boutiques for your shopping. Suggestions Kids will have the opportunity to visit the Pinocchio Park in Collodi, the native town of the wold's most famous puppet and its museum. (20 minutes by car). You can spend some time with them at the nice zoo of Pistoia (30 mins by car) or on the beaches of the Versilia (30 mins by car or 45 by train). Within walking distance there is the pretty medieval village of "Massa e Cozzile" nestling on the hills covered with olive trees or a little sanctuary of the XVIIth century lost in between woods and olive trees and some more characteristic paths.
